The Voyager With Guillaume Glipa

The Place I Can't Wait to Travel to in 2022:

New Orleans. I missed those “long rainy afternoons in New Orleans when an hour isn’t just an hour, but a little piece of eternity dropped into your hands- and who knows what to do with it? Tenessee Williams-

The City Trip that Impressed Me Most in 2021:

There weren’t many because of the lockdown. So it is in Paris to visit my business partner Laurent de Gourcuff (Paris Society) and his new amazing restaurants Gigi on Avenue Montaigne and Maison Russe near the Trocadéro. Those new places are fabulous, a must-go for a glamorous evening!

The One Thing I Never Fail to Do in a New Destination?

Going to the city’s favorite new hot spots, restaurants, bars, and hotels, and visiting the institutions, the old established ones.

The One Item I Take on All My Travels:

A couple of books, finally I have the time to read while I am boarding a plane or a train. And few playlists.

My Secret for an Airline Upgrade:

Not to be shared or it won’t work any longer.

Sustainable Travel Means to Me:

Swimming and biking…

My Favourite Restaurant in the World:

I could not name just one. Even picking up only three is hard.

  • Chez Hortense facing Dune de Pilat on the Bassin d’Arcachon eating their mussels, frites, and a whole roasted turbot. Summer!
  • Contramar in Mexico City, with their sea urchin ceviche and a buzz!
  • Indochine in NYC, most glamorous crowd, consistency through the years.

The Best Wine I Had During Lockdown:

It must have been a bottle of Krug, Cheval Blanc 2004, and Chateau d’Yquem 1997. I have a few nice friends…from the same bubble of course (near Reims)

My Perfect Sunday at Home:

Bringing some croissants to my girls, or making crepes for them. Playing some tennis with them, followed by a big lunch at home. A walk with our dog Romy in the afternoon and chilling with an old classic French film with Alain Delon or Jean-Paul Belmondo. Some jazz vinyls like the soundtrack of Lift to the Scaffold by Miles Davis to close the day with a Pappy Van Winkle.
