Klosters, Switzerland

Klosters is a firm favourite of the Royals, an old money and understated destination in Switzerland. Prince Charles and Diana took their sons on regularly Ski trips to the Swiss town. The local cable car is named after The Prince of Wales.

Chesa Grischuna

Synonymous with the glamorous Swiss ski resort of Klosters, Chesa Grischuna is a simple but charming hotel that has remained true to its roots since it was opened by Hans Guler in 1938. A feat of Landi design and craftsmanship, it became a place of refuge for American GIs during the Second World War, as well as film stars, directors, and writers— earning it the name “Hollywood on the Rocks.” Greta Garbo, Gene Kelly, and Rex Harrison have all signed the guestbook in this historic house.y.

The Resort:

One of the best in Switzerland, connected to famous Davos. Around 300 km of guaranteed snow pistes and 57 transport facilities.

How To Get To Klosters:

Fly into Zurich, 2h drive. You can also take the train from Zurich to Klosters, approx. 2h40.

Lech am Arlberg, Austria

Princess Diana chose the Austrian resort Lech for Prince William and Harry’s first ever ski holiday back in 1991. Lech is also popular with the Dutch royal family, who have reportedly skied here annually since the 1940s.

The Resort:

Perhaps the best in Austria. Snow is virtually guaranteed at the Arlberg. The resort has an average of seven meters of snowfall every winter and snow canons on 68 percent of slopes. Enjoy all the benefits of the 79 state-of-the-art lifts and cable cars that run between 1,300 and 2,800 meters (many of them equipped with under-seat heating), 280 km of slopes to suit all ability levels, 180 km of powder runs, over 1,000 highly trained winter sports instructors at numerous ski schools.
