How To Spend A Weekend In Positano

A pocket guide to the picture–perfect seaside town at the ever-iconic Costiera Amalfitana.

/ Sebastian

Where to stay, eat, and swim this summer in the Amalfi Coast's hottest town. Here is our hit list, starting in low-key Praiano, a less-crowded fishing village, right next to Positano.

Where to Stay

Our to-go spot. The setting is incredible. Owner Rosa and her team offer the most secluded stay on the Coast - the private beach access with sun loungers is hard to beat. 84 Tip - book the Rosso Amoroso Suite on the top level to enjoy the best views.

The most luxurious stay and also the most expensive hotel (some people say in all of Italy!). Book the Zeffirelli suite (1216 sqft with two bedrooms, a living room, and a private heated plunge pool) if you want to max out your credit card. Don’t miss their beach club (it even has 5 rooms for a smaller budget), a quick boat ride from the hotel. Private boat shuttles run regularly.

An institution, and one of the Mediterranean's greatest hotels. This family-run hotel is housed in a fairytale 18th-century palazzo, overlooking the azure waters of the Mediterranean. We love lounging at their poolside, next to lemon trees, sipping a cocktail. 84 Tip - don’t miss the Le Sirenuse store for beautiful vacation pieces.

Aperitivo

Situated right next to Le Sirenuse, Franco's offers the best views and incredible cocktails. Come for sunset.

For us, the most romantic spot in town. The cocktails are as good as the view.

Where to Eat

Order the sea urchin spaghetti! 84 Tip - The owner Gian Franco shows you their boutique upstairs if you ask for it.

Just a short 5-minute complimentary boat ride from Positano, this rustic beach cabin is located on a tiny pebbled beach and the food is to die for.

Situated at Hotel Le Sirenuse, Aldo’s offers fresh-off-the-boat seafood in an incredible setting.

Perhaps the best restaurant on the entire Amalfi Coast and a favorite of Stanley Tucci’s, featured in his CNN series. Their zucchini pasta is world-known. Located in Nerano, a quick boat ride from Positano.

When to Go

July and August can get very crowded. Our favourite months to visit are June & September.

How to Get There

The nearest airport is Naples, roughly 1 1/2h by rental car or taxi/car service.

Where to Shop

The boutique at Hotel Le Sirenuse carries a curated collection of beachwear items. Run by the hotelier’s wife Carla Sersale.
