A Day Well Spent At Roland Garros In Paris

Why is Roland Garros so Special?

As one of the most important and prestigious tennis tournaments globally, the French Open, also known as Roland-Garros, is a highlight of Paris's sporting calendar. The tournament unfolds in the stylish Roland-Garros Stadium, located on the fringe of the Bois de Boulogne. Known for its smart atmosphere, where spectators often dress smartly, Roland Garros provides a magnificent backdrop with its immaculately groomed orange clay courts, contemporary architecture, interesting art installations, and unexpected green spaces and gardens.

This year, the magic starts on May 25th and ends on Sunday the 8th of June.

How to Get Tickets?

The notoriously challenging Roland-Garros ticket system has been revamped for 2025. This year offers a two-tiered approach. You'll need to register for a draw by February 9th. This new system is designed to cut down on waiting times and provide equitable access on the first day of sales. If you're lucky enough to be selected, you'll have a 48-hour period to secure your tickets, according to the official Roland-Garros website.

Where to Stay Nearby

Located in Paris's 16th arrondissement, the westernmost part of the city, Roland Garros might require some travel if you're staying closer to the centre.

Stay at Saint James Paris, a former private mansion and the city's only chateau-hotel, boasting a prime location in the 16th arrondissement. From here, Roland Garros is a quick 10-minute taxi ride, the Arc de Triomphe, Trocadero, and the shops of Victor Hugo Avenue are also just a pleasant walk away. The city-centre château also offers excellent proximity to the Musée d’Art Moderne, Palais de Tokyo, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

Completely reimagined by Laura Gonzalez, the Saint James Paris invites guests on a captivating journey through time, embodying the very essence of the quintessential Parisian art de vivre. Boasting an impressive 5,000 square metres of greenery, the property commands attention amidst marvellous gardens, masterfully designed by landscape architect Xavier de Chirac.

Expect gourmet cuisine dedicated to nature and an exclusively seasonal approach at Bellefeuille restaurant.

A stay at the Saint James Paris extends beyond culinary delights to a complete embrace of well-being in the Guerlain spa, a haven of relaxation offering treatment areas, a hammam, a sauna, a Jacuzzi, a fitness room, and a luminous indoor pool.

Where to Eat in the 16th

We love Le Stella, a classic brasserie on Avenue Victor Hugo with a well-maintained tradition, old-fashioned service and traditional dishes: museau vinaigrette, mayo egg, tartare, calf's liver à l'anglaise, andouillette à la ficelle, breaded pig's trotters, plus the banalities of the century, sea bream ceviche or salmon parmesan tagliatelle. Profiteroles or île flottante for dessert.
