Lech am Arlberg, Austria

Burg Hotel

Enviably positioned slopeside in Oberlech, the much-loved Burg Hotel is widely known as having the most beautiful sun terrace in the Arlberg — and it is definitely one of our favourite places to bask after conquering the pistes. As well as ski-in/ski-out perks, the Burg is also the ideal jumping off point for summer hike. Family-run by the third generation, Patricia and Christian Lucian, are now focused on what the future of the Burg might look like. Tradition is included in this vision, of course.

Hotel Guide

Facilities

  • The spacious rooms are designed in alpine style with lots of light wood and equipped with a cozy ambiance.

  • The apartments are all individually designed with alpine furnishings and have individual bedrooms or separate living rooms.

What's the Story

  • While the first generation mainly worked on construction, the second generation concentrated on culinary arts. Elisabeth and Gerhard Lucian focus on the highest quality food. Today they bake bread in their own bakery and even have their own pig farm.

Sustainability

  • Grandfather Fridolin Lucian was the pioneer in Oberlech when it comes to alternative energy sources. As early as 1997, he built a biomass plant on his own to generate energy for the family businesses. In 2009, another biomass district heating plant was built, which today supplies many of the houses in Oberlech.

Wellness & Spa

  • Snow cabin, bio pine sauna, experience showers with mist and rain effects, Infrared cabin with brine and spray mist, or a whirlpool at the fireplace.

  • Yoga room.

  • A special highlight is the homemade herbal oils, for the herbs by hand 2,000 meters altitude can be collected. These natural oils and tinctures are found in various treatments such as facials, reflexology, Herbal massages and moor packs. The herbal tradition goes back to Grandma Helga Lucian, who, in addition to the oils and tinctures, also invented the popular herbal tea mixture from Oberlech.

Wine & Dine

  • You can choose from the Lechtaler Stube — with its 3 toques Gault Millau, where light Mediterranean-style dishes are influenced by haute cuisine and traditional Austrian recipes; or the Burg, its more formal restaurant, where five and six course gourmet menus are de rigueur accompanied by vintage pours from its impressive wine cellar.

  • The year-round hotspot is the well-known sun terrace. Order the beef tartare with a finely diced fillet of beef, perfectly seasoned and served with onions, capers, egg yolk, anchovies, pickles, homemade butter, and toasted bread.

  • In the winter season, the hotel also offers an ice bar which is perfect for Après-ski.

  • Wine cellar with 60,000 bottles, 4,500 items are stored - exquisite wines, rare vintage depth from Austria and all over the world.

Dresscode

  • Après-ski chic.

Budget

  • Rates start at EUR 500 per night. The hotel is open 9 months a year and only closes in late autumn (October and November) and late spring (May and June).

Local Guide

  • In summer, you can take advantage of the numerous hiking trails, including the famous Lechweg, which runs through the impressive landscape of the Lechtal Alps. Some of the most famous hiking destinations are the Kriegeralpe and the Mohnenfluh.

  • Just a few minutes' drive from the Burg Hotel, Austria's highest golf course, the Golf Club Lech, awaits, surrounded by impressive mountain peaks in the Zug Valley. The Waldbad Lech outdoor pool is the perfect place to cool off.
